Bigger is Not Always Better

When you are talking about magnifiers, smaller is stronger.

A common request is for a magnifier that will allow the user to see a full page of print or, at least, a large area of print. Unfortunately, the laws of optics prevent the development of this ideal magnifier.

The field of view is the size of the area that can be seen at any one time. The curved surface of a magnifying lens bends light rays to produce an image of the object that appears larger than the object itself. The amount the light is bent and thus the degree of magnification is determined by the curvature of the lens surface.

If you are looking for a new magnifier, please make an appointment with a Sight for Hope specialist. A member of our professional staff will work with you to determine the device best suited to your needs.
