Army Veteran and Advocate Claudette Williams Elected to Sights for Hope Board

Claudette Williams – a retired United States Army veteran and CEO of the Women Veterans Museum – has been elected to the Sights for Hope Board of Directors.

During her 30-year Army career, Williams was a Sergeant Major who led soldiers in missions to Iraq, Afghanistan, and several additional areas in Southwest Asia. She founded the Women Veterans Museum in 2019 to raise awareness of the pivotal roles that female veterans have played on and off the battlefield. Williams has also been a member of the Mount Pocono Borough Council since 2014.

Born in Jamaica, Williams immigrated to Brooklyn, NY, at a young age. She relocated to Mount Pocono in 1994. She holds a master’s degree in Addiction Counseling and a bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University. Among her priority areas in the community are public education, the well-being of senior citizens, healthcare, and immigration.

The board elected Williams to a three-year term and re-elected Board Vice President Devin Darby to a third three-year term during its September meeting Wednesday night.

The Sights for Hope Board of Directors oversees the organization’s operations, holds fiduciary responsibility, and provides strategic direction to ensure fulfillment of its mission and vision.
