Sights for Hope Tops its Fundraising Goal with Inaugural Bikers for Sight Ride
Sights for Hope topped its fundraising goal Saturday during its first Bikers for Sight ride, which was presented by PABikerLawyer.com and set against the autumn Pocono Mountain splendor.
Led by the Northeast PA Inter Club, the Bikers for Sight event was inspired by Sights for Hope client Wendy Smentkowski, an avid motorcycle rider who recently lost most of her eyesight. As a member of the region’s Christian Motorcycle Association with the handle “Gladiator,” she convinced the Northeast PA Inter Club, an association of area biker clubs, to “adopt” Sights for Hope as one of its charities.
The 44.7-mile Bikers for Sight ride was formatted as a poker run. Participants drew playing cards at the starting line, at three locations along the route, and at the finish line. The rider who drew the best poker hand, Jarrod Kucharik of Bangor, PA, won the event’s $500 grand prize. The finish line tent at Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery in Saylorsburg, PA, also featured a barbeque lunch, a tricky tray raffle, and a performance by Sights for Hope’s client-led band, Limitless.
Sights for Hope raised more than $18,500, from the Bikers for Sight ride against a goal of $15,050. Along with the riders’ registration fees, Sights for Hope raised money from the event’s sponsorships, shirt sales, and raffle.
Additional 2025 Bikers for Sight ride sponsors were Grand Prize Sponsor Active Learning Centers and Lehigh Valley Martial Arts; Gold Sponsors Allied Building Corporation and The Genesis Group; and Contributing Sponsor St. Luke’s University Health Network. Pocono Mountain Harley-Davidson in Tannersville, PA, hosted the start of the run and was a Venue Sponsor, as was the Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery. Additional poker run stops were Stacked Deli in Pocono Lake, PA; The Brick Lounge in Blakeslee, PA; and The Lakeside restaurant in Saylorsburg, PA.
