New Sights for Hope Fundraiser to Throttle Up Among the Poconos’ Autumn Splendor

Sights for Hope and motorcycle clubs from northeast Pennsylvania will throttle up for a new fundraiser among the Pocono Mountains’ autumn splendor.
Created in partnership with the Northeast PA Inter Club, Bikers for Sight will be a poker run on the roads of Monroe County on Saturday, October 11. It will start at 9:30 a.m. at Pocono Mountain Harley-Davidson in Tannersville, PA, and will end at Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery in Saylorsburg, PA. The finish line tent will include food, wine for purchase, a tricky tray raffle, and opportunities to learn how Sights for Hope empowers people to overcome the challenges of vision loss and promotes healthy eyesight.
The cost will be $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Registration will be on the event day. Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds will benefit Sights for Hope. Additional event details are available at SightsforHope.org/BikersforSight.
Bikers for Sight was inspired by a Monroe County Sights for Hope client who rode frequently before losing most of her vision. As a representative of her motorcycle club, she persuaded the Northeast Inter Club, an association of Pocono area clubs, to “adopt” Sights for Hope as one of its charities.
“We are uniquely excited about Bikers for Sight because of how it came about and because of the generous spirit that every rider has brought to this project,” said Dennis Zehner, Executive Director and CEO of Sights for Hope. “Many clubs of riders consider themselves as families, especially in times of need, and the way they have rallied around our client is heartwarming.”
Sights for Hope empowers people to overcome the challenges of vision loss and promotes healthy eyesight throughout Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley and Monroe County. Sights for Hope educates people with limited or no vision about adaptive skills, improves their access to essential services, boosts their confidence and emotional well-being, and helps them obtain assistive devices. Sights for Hope also connects pre-kindergarten children to eye care and teaches people how to keep their eyes strong and safe. Founded in 1928, Sights for Hope is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (PAB) and the national VisionServe Alliance.
