Magnifiers: Bigger is Not Always Better
When you are talking about magnifiers, smaller is stronger.
A common request is for a magnifier that will allow the user to see a full page of print or, at least, a large area of print. Unfortunately, the laws of optics prevent the development of this ideal magnifier.
The curved surface of a magnifying lens bends light rays to produce an enlarged image of an object. The degree of magnification is determined by the curvature of the lens’ surface. Therefore, as the lens’ magnification increases to meet a user’s need, its field of view, or the area that the user can see clearly, becomes smaller.
If you are looking for a new magnifier, please make an appointment with a Sights for Hope specialist. A member of our professional staff will work with you to determine the device best suited to your needs. Please call the Sights for Hope service center location most convenient for you.
