Five Years Later, Sights for Hope Continues to Build on a Shift in Perspective

It has been five years since Sights for Hope implemented something bigger than a name change.

Previously operating as Center for Vision Loss, the organization also reframed its perspective on April 6, 2021 – choosing to focus not just on the challenges associated with vision loss, but on how people move forward.

That shift has influenced how the organization defines its impact, placing greater emphasis on helping people pursue their potential and live with capability and independence. It is reflected in how Sights for Hope builds capabilities in people with blindness and visual impairments, equips children to read in kindergarten, and enriches its neighbors’ lives with habits that protect their eyesight – thereby helping people in its communities gain the confidence to act, adapt, and succeed.

“When we adopted our name, we wanted to better reflect our guiding philosophy of hope over loss, and I believe that message has resonated throughout our communities,” said Dennis Zehner, Executive Director and CEO of Sights for Hope. “Over the past five years, our team has consistently carried that forward in the way they show up for each other and for the people we serve.”

Five years after choosing hope over loss, the momentum that Sights for Hope set in motion continues to accelerate.
