Living the Values: Sights for Hope Honors the Life of James Van Horn, Sr.

Sights for Hope mourns the passing of James Van Horn, Sr., a former member of its Board of Directors and a long-time client support group leader.

Living with total blindness himself, Jim gave generously of his heart and talents to support others and help build a community where people facing blindness and vision loss could find connection, encouragement, confidence, and hope.

“While we are saddened by Jim’s passing, we are inspired by how he lived his life,” said Dennis Zehner, Executive Director and CEO of Sights for Hope. “Through the dignity and character he demonstrated each day, his commitment to advancing independence for those we serve, and the lasting impact he made on countless individuals, Jim was a shining embodiment of the values we hold dear.”

James Van Horn, Sr. served on the Sights for Hope board from 2010-2011, when the organization was known as Center for Vision Loss. From 2007-2010, he was a board member for the former Visual Impairment and Blindness Services (VIABL), which was consolidated into the organization in 2010.
